Zeche Zollverein, Essen

On the site of a former colliery, the two tallest freestanding escalators in Germany transport visitors to exhibition rooms in the former coal washing plant. The spectacular installations won "Elevator World" magazine’s 2006/2007 "Project of the Year" award.
