Diversified industrial group ThyssenKrupp is calling for more energy efficient design in our urban landscapes, having analysed that energy savings in our buildings need to be implemented now in order to achieve meaningful levels in 15 years. Today buildings account for 40 percent of global energy consumption.

ThyssenKrupp Celebrates Sustainability at Tennessee Factory’s LEED ® Gold Certification Event
On Tuesday, ThyssenKrupp Elevator celebrated the company’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Existing Building: Operations and Maintenance Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) was awarded to the elevator factory in Middleton, Tennessee. With almost 1,000 distinguished guests, company executives and employees in attendance, the event highlighted the companies continued commitment to the environment and the communities in which it operates.

With its large local manufacturing base, the company introduced the innovative fastest escalator in Brazil and provided mobility solutions for the country's major airports as well as to four of the 2014 World Cup stadiums. ThyssenKrupp was given the award for mobility equipment provided for Sao Paulo’s metro and rail stations.
